Position: Software Engineer
Department: Vessels Performance Monitoring (VPM)

Responsibilities:
  1. Executes the full software development life cycle (SDLC).
  2. Develops flowcharts, layouts and documentation to identify requirements and solutions.
  3. Writes well-designed and testable code.
  4. Produces specifications and determines operational feasibility.
  5. Integrates software components into a fully functional software system.
  6. Develops software verification plans and quality assurance procedures.
  7. Documents and maintains the software functionality.
  8. Troubleshoots, debugs and upgrades the existing systems.
  9. Deploys programs and evaluates user feedback.
  10. Complies with project plans and industry standards and ensures software is updated with latest features.
Qualifications / Experience:
  1. University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or any relevant field.
  2. Proven working experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer.
  3. Experience in designing interactive applications; developing software in Java, Ruby on Rails, C++ or other programming languages and; developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (JSF, Wicket, GWT, Spring MVC) will be an asset.
  4. Experience with test – driven development.
  5. Excellent knowledge of relational databases, SQL and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate).
  6. Proficiency in software engineering tools.

  • Post Fixtures Officer / Assistant Operator
Position: Post Fixtures Officer / Assistant Operator
Department: Operations & Insurance

Reports to: Operations & Insurance Director
Responsibilities:
  1. Supports the operators by providing all the requested documents and information when they liaise with the chartering department during the vessel’s fixing process.
  2. Reviews the underperformance claims received by charterers and analyzes weather reports.
  3. Checks with the operators the owner’s LOI/LOA, B/Ls status and draft surveys at loading and discharging ports in order to ensure that the loading/discharging operations are in line with the legal requirements and the C/P provisions.
  4. Informs and assists the insurance department to arrange additional war risk premiums and notify underwriters accordingly.
  5. Arranges for the payment of various invoices via Navision.
  6. Assists the bunkering, the technical and the chartering departments, as deemed necessary.
  7. Controls hire and freight collection and assures everything is received on time and in accordance with charter party terms and conditions.
  8. Prepares payments for the undisputed balances, issues and monitors invoices concerning hires and/or freights.
  9. Calculates final results for completed voyages, reports them to management and creates provisional estimations for new fixtures.
  10. Reviews fleets’ communication and monitors vessels’ voyage and operations and prepares main terms slip for each fixture.
  11. Develops filling of all cases and enters newly fixed vessels in Navision.
  12. Cooperates closely with other departments to follow-up or exchange information about financial issues.
Qualifications / Experience:
  1. Bachelor degree in shipping, law or chartering.
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience in the operations and/or post fixtures department of a shipping company, preferably with bulkers.
  3. Awareness of C/P clauses and claims handling.
  4. Fluency in English.
  5. MS Office Literacy.
  6. Team player.
  7. Constant follow-up of new practices, requirements, regulations, case law and arbitration awards.

  • Vessels Operator (Singapore-based)
Position: Vessels Operator (Singapore-based)
Department: Operations & Insurance

Reports to: Operations & Insurance Director
Responsibilities:
  1. Monitors daily the performance of assigned vessels based on flag, statutory and Company’s requirements regarding speed, consumption and weather conditions.
  2. Appoints cargo or bunker surveyors and port agents and arranges various ship services. Updates position list and books, checks with agents the ship’s prospects and approves D/As.
  3. Approves hire statements or freight invoices including lay-time calculations and assists chartering (cargo quantity/stowage calculations) in describing vessel’s characteristics and authorizes C/P clauses.
  4. Checks pre-stowage plans, loading sequences, passage plans, cargo docs, LOIs, bunker requirements and authorizes bunker purchases.
  5. Issues voyage instructions, ship’s cargo holds preparation instructions and Monitors ship’s cargo holds condition and preparation.
  6. Monitors the actual day-to-day performance and financial expenditure of assigned vessels.
  7. Communicates to Masters Voyage instructions, port requirements, local regulations, cargo requirements and precautions, ship’s charter party description and applicable clauses.
  8. Liaises with the Insurance Department in handling of claims, hazardous situations, accidents and P & I involvement and informs it in case of vessel breaking International Navigation Limits and war zones.
Qualifications / Experience:
  1. Minimum Captain Class B License, 5 years sea experience on bulk carriers and 5 years office experience or University degree in shipping, chartering, economics etc. and minimum 10 years office experience in the operations department of a dry cargo shipping company.
  2. English fluency and computer (MS Office / ERP Systems) literacy.
  3. Strong cross-cultural communication skills (i.e., ability to communicate with office, crew etc.)
  4. Strong market knowledge and commercial awareness.

Position: Freight Trader
Department: Athens Chartering team

Responsibilities:
  1. Identifies, secures and hedges spot and forward cargoes for the company’s fleet of head owned and time chartered in vessels
  2. Understands clearly all MTM, Risk, MTM & Risk related measures, P&L, P&L related impacts and own book management
  3. Prioritizes and executes proactively daily tasks in a high-pressure environment
  4. Actively contributes to the in-house research analysis
  5. Maintains existing and builds new relationships with charterer
  6. Access profitable cargo trading opportunities.
Qualifications / Experience:
  1. University degree in Shipping, Chartering, Economics or any relevant field
  2. Minimum 10 years of experience in the freight trading desk/chartering department of a dry cargo shipping company
  3. Experience with supramax and/or panamax size vessels will be an asset
  4. Excellent command of the English language
  5. Strong knowledge and relationships on grain / minerals' movements
  6. Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)

Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinates recruitment processes, including positions’ marketing and candidates’ interviewing, assessment and selection.  
  2. Monitors all the performance management and development processes.
  3. Handles employee relations matters.
  4. Coordinates various process and procedures related to facilities management.
  5. Maintains and updates accurately all employees’ records and lists, organizational charts, employees’ profiles etc.
  6. Administers various employees’ benefits such as life and medical insurance.
  7. Handles employees’ absences and maintains the respective records.
  8. Administers various HR procedures, policies and practices.
  9. Maintains and updates daily the Company’s human resources management system (HRMS).
  10. Assists on any projects assigned by the Head of HR
Qualifications / Experience:
  1. University degree in HR, Business, Management, Psychology or any relevant field.
  2. A post graduate degree will be an asset.
  3. Minimum 10 years of experience in various HR areas (i.e., selection, recruitment, training, development, performance/talent management, payroll/benefits, employee relations, internal communication etc.).
  4. International or shipping experience will be an asset.
  5. Good knowledge of Greek labor law.  
  6. Fluency in English and excellent knowledge of MS Office.
  7. Familiarity with human resources information systems (HRIS).
